Did you know?…
… Kefir and yogurt are both fermented milk products. That is, milk that has been partially ‘eaten’ by bacteria. These bacteria are both specific strains and beneficial to your gut and your whole body. Despite the similar appearance between yogurt and kefir, there are quite a few key differences in the fermented dairy products.
Yogurt usually contains one or two strains of bacteria, where Kefir contains up to 13 strains, and the diversity of those beneficial bacteria are much wider than those in yogurt! Most yogurts that people buy have a ton of sugar or artificial sweeteners inside, even the ones labeled ‘healthy’. Kefir has a much thinner consistency than kefir, more similar to buttermilk, and is slightly fermented.
Kefir is absolutely positively wonderful tasting and contains no added sugars or artificial additives.
Instead of buying those flavored yogurts or yogurt smoothies, get some kefir grains next time instead!
